Kyong Duncan is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) under clinical supervision working towards advanced licensure to ensure the continuous development of her skills and provision of the highest standard of care. She is also working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and has numerous graduate and post-graduate hours of play therapy experience with preschool and elementary-aged children. Kyong earned a B.A. in Family Psychology and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. In 2024, she earned an M.Ed. in Counseling focused on Clinical Mental Health from Wichita State University.
With 20 years of teaching experience, Kyong has extensive experience working with children and families, deepening her understanding of developmental needs, emotional growth, and the importance of a supportive environment. Since 2023, her ongoing work, first as a practicum/intern student and later as a Clinician in community mental health, has broadened her skills in working with diverse populations, including Veterans and individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges.
Kyong has training in therapy approaches, such as Child-Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive-Based Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness, which she incorporates into therapy to help clients develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress management skills. She also offers a faith-based perspective for those who desire it, integrating spirituality into the healing process to provide additional support and guidance.
Kyong’s goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals or children can process emotions, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop tools for lasting change. She believes healing is possible, and individuals do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Whether seeking therapy for themselves or their child, Kyong is there to support, empower, and walk alongside her clients on their journey towards growth and renewed hope.
